8Gb hard drive netboos

8Gb Hard Drive Netbooks

An 8Gb hard drive is plenty if you plan to store all of your photos and music online using apps like Flickr and Spotify. If you want to be able to view/listen to that stuff without an internet connection, you'll need a netbook with a larger hard drive.
12Gb Netbooks

12Gb Hard Drive Netbooks

A 12Gb hard drive in a netbook will probably be a solid state hard drive beening it is shock proof and your computer will boot up really quickly. You'll be able to store some photos and music on this drive - but netbooks with solid state drives work best when you keep stuff online (with the benefit that you can access it from any computer, anywhere)
16Gb Netbooks

16Gb Hard Drive Netbooks

A 16Gb disk drive is the largest solid state drive you'll find. You've got loads of room here to install plently of application. Even Microsoft Office - which is a massive suite of programs only needs 1.5Gb of hard drive space, leaving plenty of room for MP3s etc.
60Gb netbooks

60Gb Hard Drive Netbooks

A 60Gb is probably the smallest optical drive size you'll come across. Optical drives are mechanical and use magnets to write data to a spinning disk. This can make them prone to mechanical failure (but it's very rare). As an example of how big a Gigabyte (Gb) is, in 1 Gb you could store 64,750 Word documents OR about 250 MP3s OR about 300 photos. These are rough figures, but should give you an idea of your space requirements.
80Gb netbooks

80Gb Hard Drive Netbooks

An 80Gb drive is a fair amount of space for a netbook. It really depends on how you use your netbook as to how much space you need. If this is going to be your only computer - and you are a keen photographer and buy loads of digital music - this is probably as low as you should go when it comes to hard drive size. If this netbook is a second computer that you'll be using mostly to surf the web and send emails, you can save money and get a netbook with a smaller hard drive.
120gb netbooks

120Gb Hard Drive Netbooks

A 120Gb hard drive is about standard for regular laptops and desktop computers now. This is ample space for any application you'd want to install and would be able to accomodate large amounts of data. Saying this - if you're a voracious bitorrent user and download Gigabytes of films, better to be safe than sorry and get a larger hard drive.
160Gb netbooks

160Gb Hard Drive Netbooks

Most netbooks coming onto the market nowadays seem to have a 160Gb version. It is becoming a bit of a standard hard drive size for netbooks. It is big enough for storing a fair few films and running loads of apps. Bear in mind, netbooks don't come with CD or DVD drives, so if you plan on downloading loads of movies, then archiving them off to DVD, you'll need to buy an extern DVD writer.
250Gb netbooks

250Gb Hard Drive Netbooks

This is the largest hard drive you'll currently find on the netbook market. It's aimed at people who use lots of rich media like audio and video. If you're planning on doing any video or audio editing on your netbook, which you probably aren't as the screen is a bit tiny, remeber to get one with enough RAM to run your app (this doesn't matter so much for editng low quality video for youtube).
