HP Mini-Note 2140 Netbook

The very affordable HP Mini Note 2140 is aimed very squarely at the business market and the travelling professional. An update to the popular Mini 2133 Mini-Note, the 2140 features the same brushed-aluminium silver-coloured finish that made its predecessor such a hardy travelling companion.

Improvements over the 2133 include a bigger 10-inch display and a massive upgrade in battery life, to 7 hours of mobile computing. provided by the six-cell battery. This overhaul does not come at the expense of durability with the 2140 retaining the magnesium alloy chassis of earlier models, protecting its precious components from bangs and bumps while on the move.

The HP Mini Note 2140 features the same 92% full-sized keyboard as the Mini 2133 making prolonged use comfortable and precise. The keyboard is treated with a special coating that HP claims makes the surface 50% more resistant to wear and tear it is also water resistant in case you want to take it to the beach.

The HP Mini Note 2140 connectivity options include two USB 2.0 ports, a SD Card read, an ethernet port and VGA port for hooking up your netbook to a standard monitor. If you are in to video conferencing or online chatting you can take advantage of the Mini 2140's built in 0.3-megapixel camera and dual stereo microphones.

The 10-inch display is treated to prevent scratches and supports a native 1024 x 576 screen resolution which means you can watch films in 16:9 without black bars at the top and bottom of the picture.

The HP Mini Note 2140 houses the ever-reliable Atom N270 processor (instead of the VIA C7-M of the 2133) and 1GB of onboard RAM, providing enough computing power to run most business and entertainment software with reasonable performance. This is backed by a massive 160GB SATA hard drive providing ample storage for the largest of digital media libraries.
