7 Inch Screen Netbooks

These are the tiniest netbooks you can buy. 7 inch netbooks are highly portable and can easily been chucked in a bag or purse. Because the screen is smaller it consumes less energy so you may get more battery life out of these little mini laptops. As you're probably aware - working on a screen this small for long periods of may not healthy for your eyes.

8 Inch Screen Netbooks

The netbook currently available with an 8 inch screen is the Sony Vaio P11ZQ. This gorgeous little netbook has a letterbox shaped screen that allows you to see the full width of a website without horizontal scrolling. A great compromise between form and function, this netbook is tiny, power efficient but is still great to use and literally very easy on the eye.

8.9 Inch Screen Netbooks

8.9 inches is the most common size of netbook screen (although larger 10 inch screen netbooks are slowly taking over). Most websites will display correctly on an 8.9 inch screen (depending on resolution settings) and this small screen size means that the netbook is still small, light and relatively power efficient.

9 Inch Screen Netbooks

The 9 inch netbook is relatively rare. We only know of the Dell mini 9 that has this size of screen. Again, as it is a similar size to the 8.9 inch netbooks it straddles the line between usable and portable very nicely.

10 Inch Screen Netbooks

The 10 inch netbooks are coming! More and more people are buying netbooks to do serious work or long periods of surfing on so need the comfort that a larger screen brings.

10.1 Inch Screen Netbooks

As screen sizes get larger, they consume more power and drain the battery quicker. A lot of these 10.1 inch screen netbooks have larger 6 cell batteries in order to compensate for the extra screen sizes. This means you can have a tiny portable laptop, that you can surf or work on for hours at a time - having a 6 cell battery may increase the weight a tiny bit though.

10.2 Inch Screen Netbooks

When netbook screens get up to around the 10.2 inch mark the overal form factor of the netbook increases too. This means that the keyboard size is usually about 90% the size of a full size one - meaning it's more comfortable to use for long periods of serious typing. This size of screen is for you if you need a mini computer that you're going to be writing documents, emails or surfing for long periods of time on.

11.6 Inch Screen Netbooks

The 11.6 inch screen netbooks are great for watching widescreen video on. If you watch a lot of iPlayer of Sky Player this size netbook screen may be for you.

12.1 Inch Screen Netbooks

The 12.1 inch screen netbook is about as large as a mini netbook gets without it being called a fully fledged netbook. These netbooks are still portable - although you may have problems just chucking them into any old bag to take them on the road. Great if you want a screen that's easy to read and want to decrease the resolution on to increase font size if you have bad eyesight.
